Introduction:

Kangra district, which came into existence in 1972 is located
in the Shivalik Hills. The elevation of the district varies from
300 Meters to 5500 Meters from the mean sea level. The area of
the district is 5749 sq. km. The district is predominantly agrarian
and around 82% of its population depends on agriculture and its
allied activities for their livelihood. There are number of historical
temples and tourist places in the district.
